*Creative Aging Program GrantStacie – The CAAN collaboration, through the Main Line Art Center, was awarded the Creative Aging Program grant through the National Guild for Community Schools of the Arts & the MetLife Foundation. This will result in several of our member agencies putting together a 12-week pilot program to engage older adults in an art program at the Main Line Art Center. This program will focus on creative expression through participation in a combination program of both visual arts and dance movement expression.

*Update on National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts Membership
CAAN is now an educational affiliate member of the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts. CAAN members can access the National Guild’s website for resources; members can also attend conferences at a discounted rate, and CAAN will receive the Guild’s quarterly newsletter to share with all members. Stay tuned for information on how to log onto their website and access their resources- username and pass code information.

*Update on relationship with National Center for Creative Aging (NCCA)
CAAN is a member of the NCCA. The NCCA would like us to know that we have their support and they are so excited to see our group re-organize. If you have any thoughts or suggestions, please share at future meetings or you can email me directly at brownmea@mlhs.org.

*By-Law Review and Passing, brief discussion of structure
We will change the CAAN business address- all members present vote yes to change

*CAAN Connection with other communities:Lifetime Arts, NY (Artist Database) All artists are invited to sign on to Lifetime Arts’ Artist Database, you can visit their website at: www.lifetimearts.org.

*CAAN Artist Training Program- Mary Catherine has formed a committee to work on a Training Program for artists in our community to work comfortably and effectively with the older adult population. If you are interested in learning more, please email either: Mary Catherine at: mcdabrowski@senrs.org or brownmea@mlhs.org. First meeting date for this committee is December 3rd.

In addition to our networking and resource time, we will discuss the outcome of the Creativy Matters grant application, and then will focus our efforts on discussing the structure of CAAN - building on our past conversations to establish a strong framework for the group.

Who is CAAN . . .

The Creative Arts & Aging Network (CAAN) exists to promote avenues and opportunities for all elders, artists and people in the aging network to explore the arts and humanities as a means of life enhancement.

Today, CAAN is a collaborative organization made up of a group of committed artists, staff from various organizations and institutions and individuals who are passionate about nurturing the creativity within all older people.
